Everybody knows Toney never cared about getting in shape. I think he had to weigh in 2 or 3 times for the Jones fight. He loved food more than boxing. Waste of talent. I know people thinks that Jones walks on water. Monzon Leonard Heards Duran fought the best of the best again and again. Jones never did that. I never said Jones doesn't have talent. He just won't go out of his way to take on the tough fights.

Depends on how you identify ATG concept. ATG is subjective. You can rank top 200, 100 or only 50 P4P boxers in history. He might crack top 100. Not more.

Er, no, he didn't weigh in 2 or 3 times. But that's another nice lie to add to the list of excuses.

Toney weighed in at 167, a lb under the limit, on his first attempt. Sounds so weight drained.

That's not what I asked anyway, if Roy Jones is overrated, what does that make James Toney?

Forgive me sir. I was going from memory. I'm old and only have two brain cells left. People have seen Toney before. He fought a bum name Dave Tiberi. He is not even in Toney league. Toney was given a 12-round gift. Watch it on youtube. Sometimes he can be great and other times just sucks. He was the Jack Sharkey of his times. I just need more to call Jones an all-time great. Talent yes resume no.

When was Toney great? I've never seen it.

And yes I'm well aware he lost clearly to Dave Tiberi.

To you, Dave Tiberi looked like a champion that day?

Amateurs count punches, pros measure effectiveness. One needs to take a man's title not just give him a good workout.

It was a clown fight. One guy couldn't crack an egg, while the champion sleep walked for 12 roinds.

Proper decision would have been a NC on both their records.

Tiberi won the fight very clearly.

James Toney himself admitted it and the judges were investigated.

Yes, he very obviously is an ATG fighter.

By post 1970s standards, when prize fighting got reinvented as a "sport," yep Tiberi certainly scored more "points." Don't think he won the "fight" though, just the boxing match.

I must not be alone in my thinking, after all two judges agreed with me and the investigation said no corruption found.

But I asked you if you thought Dave Tiberi looked like a champion that day?
