LaMotta and Galento. Surprised they did not get a shout!

Nihito Arakawa and probably a **** ton of other Japanese fighters. Those dudes come out swinging and don't give up easy.

lots of great answers here but Carl Froch is an obvious choice for this list imo...maybe too obvious and modern for others to mention I guess

When I saw the headline of this thread, Chavez Sr. was the first name that popped up on my mind.

Maybe because I have a special fondness to this type of pugilists. Relying a lot on their strength, they aint only fighting their opponents, but also the clock. Yesterdays 15-rounders did suit them better, now they must try to accomplish their task ?to wear down a perhaps more gifted boxer ?in 12 rnds or less.

No the toughest fighter ever but Marcos Maidana deserves to be on this Gatti list. the guy literally will walk through anyones offense despite his chin not being that great. He has okay skill now that he is with robert but he is still very uncoordinated with terrible combination speed. Just relies on brute power, angles, and non stop aggression. I remember the khan fight and that had to take a lot of will power to get outclassed for so long in the fight until he started landing

I remember Larry Merchant saying that when he asked Angelo Dundee who the toughest fighter hes ever seen, said JCC.

George foreman, some of the shots he took off a prime holyfield and an underrated (and heavy handed) michael Moorer would have stopped an elephant, but couldn't slow down a 40+ year old man.

Benny Lynch and Ken Buchanan deserve a mention.
