Walcott is pretty much a tough fight for anyone. Size mongers will tell you different, but styles make fights and Joe had a style to make anyone look bad.

The Holmes jab and his great right hand will do the job on the always game Walcott.

Agreed. Holmes better jab is the difference.both had sneaky right hands, but Larry's was hidden better behind a superior jab.

Holmes would have to watch out for that Walcott counter right hand. He may not have hit hard as Shavers or Tyson, but he may have hit harder than Snipes.

Both excellent technical masters. Definitely a fight I'd pay to watch....

--- Two modern cruisers. Don't kid yerself that Lar is an actual heavy weight any more than Ali, Louis, or Dempsey.

Weaver was all of 200 pounds and not as skilled as Walcott when he gave Holmes a tough fight. Walcott was 194-196 pounds. I really don't think that's the be all and end all of this fight, though it may be a factor.

If I believe 1979:s NHL champs Montreal would slaughter 1947:s NHL champs Toronto (which I do), I believe Holmes would beat Jersey Joe.
Something near 15-0 in rounds, or more likely, by stoppage.

They were all great. In their time.

You can tell the newbies of the sport who believe size in the hwt division is so important. Forget the technical aspects of the most technical of all sports just focus on weight and physique.....pure rubbish. Any weight difference between Holmes and Walcott would be inconsequential to the outcome of the fight.
