I doubt it, the body hardly uses any energy when asleep. Anyother time of the day though it probably would if you have no food in you. Should never let yourself get 'very' hungry.

If you have weight trained one body part hard without eating properly then the body will take and strip from one part of the body in order to build the area you have worked out on. So nutrition is a key pillar of weight training .

          No,

the body goes through a process during starvation where first our body stops producing fat burning enzymes then the body releases less leptin which tells your brain your not hungry with less leptin more hunger pains. then your body will stop releasing as many fat burning hormones which help to regulate your metabolisim. finally your body will start to feed on its own muscle.

for the final stage of muscle break down it can take 3-5 days with out any food at all or around 2 weeks eating less then 1000 calories a day.

going to bed on an empty stomach every once and a while wont cause you to lose muscle. though a prolonged extremely low calorie diet is very bad for you.

this isnt a matter of not having enough calories this is a matter of not having enough protein in your daily diet. if you eat 4000 calories a day and only take in 20 grams of protein your going to still have this problem.

I know I should have defined my deffinition of nutrition better in this case highlighting protein as the key component.

i "THINK" it can sometimes convert the muscle tissue to fat.

When you goto sleep without having eaten your body goes into a catabolic state during that 8-hour period, eating some protein that takes a while to digest (Pure Casein Protein, Cottage Cheese, etc) would be good for your body as it feeds it during that time period.

Muscle does not become fat and vice versa.
