MAGDEBURG, Germany – Roman Fress won a hard-fought unanimous points win over fellow German Michael Seitz in a 10-round cruiserweight battle Saturday here at Seebühne Elbauenpark.

Judges scored it 97-92 (twice) and 96-93 (as BoxingScene also had it). Seitz, now 13-2, was caught by a left hook and a right while off balance in the first round, and it was counted as a knockdown – the only one in the fight.

Seitz was dangerous throughout with his heavy hooks and had his moments, but Fress, 23-1 and trained by former world titleholder Robert Stieglitz, was too busy for him.

Artur Reis, 15-1, outscored Croatia’s Mate Rudan, 8-1, in the cruiserweight co-feature over 10 bloody and messy rounds. It was scored 98-92 (twice) and 98-93.

Rudan was shaken in the first round and badly cut on the scalp after a clash of heads in the second. His cornermen seemed rather inept at stopping the blood flow, but after some help from the ringside physician, the gash bled less.

Reis, from nearby Wolfsburg, Germany, boxed from the outside while Rudan kept attacking in wild bursts of punching that was seldom effective. The two wound up wrestling on the inside, as the referee was slow in breaking them apart.
