The best five KO's of some of your favourite ATG fighters.

I will start.

Tommy Hearns.

1. Duran - on this night at this weight Hearns looked utterly invincible.

The speed, the awesome power and perhaps PFP the hardest punch ever thrown.

2. Cuevas - see above.

3. Shuler - after the Hagler war but with a fully functional right he utterly destroyed James (a very fine and skilled undefeated fighter) in 73 seconds.

4. Roldan - a total shootout with a brutal brusier who gave Marvin murder until that eye injury (thumb?)

Tommy was suffering wear and tear from the weight jumps up and down but instead of boxing wanted to do it in style.

And he did to make history.

5. Andries - Tommy jumped from LM to LH to KO a crude but incredibly strong and tough Andries.

The 'five" is throwing me off.

I could name Dempsey, but he's just a favorite historical interest not a favorite fighter.

My favorite fighters of my lifetime don't have five great KOs to their credit.

I can name Nino Benvenuti (as I was an Italian kid growing up in New Jersey,) but I can only think of two great KOs: a comeback win with two bleeding eyes; a one punch (left hook) KO of Luis Rodriguez and an easy KO of Tom Bethea a journeyman he had lost to previous in a nontitle fight.

I am sure he had others but none move me personally.

Same with Livingstone Bramble. A favorite because he came out of Passic/Paterson area with Duva. I saw him early and predicted he would take out Kenny Bogner in the 'great' north NJ faceoff. I also knew he could beat Mancini but also knew he had to KO him for he would never get the decision. And then his stunning early round KO of Harold Brazier late in his career. But again I can only come up with three.

I was a big Patterson fan but the only KO I got to experience firsthand was a great bodyshot KO against Mitch 'Devil' Green. I wasn't old enough for the 1950s KOs.

Chavez taking out Taylor was a big one for me too. But the only one that moved me. (I knew he was going to get jobbed by the 'punch counter' types but I could see he was beating Taylor a slow death. I wish that fight had been 15 rounds so we can stop all this crap that Taylor got robbed.)

But I never embraced any fighter who delivered me five important KOs.

For the sake of this post I assume you mean their five most visually pleasing or exciting knockouts (as opposed to scoring a less sensational KO over a high quality opponent).

I’ll start with Hagler. I just missed out on watching Hagler’s career live (was too young) but he’s my favorite fighter in all of history-

Probably my favorite fighter as a teenager was RJJ, his top 5 for me would be

My favorite fighter of the last decade or so was GGG what can I say, I like punching machines. His top five would be

I have challenged our keyboard scholars on here several times on an issue which has overcome them. Did Robinson score KOs to the body with both hands?
