Do Any Of You Gent's Know Pre-1940 Fighters?

I've seen the majority of your limited knowledge with fighters from of the 1930's, and 1940's which is a forgotten period of history with most middle age and younger students of boxing on this forum. IMO.

Yeah, I can admit I'm fairly weak in the 30s

The 40s is Louis....I don't think many here are weak in the 40s. Weaker outside of HW, but pretty much everyone in every era is weaker outside of HW.

I found the timing of those champions juxtaposed to the timing of controlling political en****** in boxing disturbing and chose to focus on the champions left out of history rather than the ones we all know.

Schmelling and Primo just happen to come off the back of *******s taking controlling vote in the IBU. Corrupting ranks and results while paying black Americans to lay down in fixed fights.

It is an interesting history I should look at but going from knowing nothing I chose to look for the talent and found myself siding with the colored champions over the traditional champions. I ended up wanting to know more about the man who DQ'd himself out than the man who was losing until a DQ saved him.

I can speak at much more length about Godfrey than I can Primo.

Loopin Larry, Obie Walker, and of course George Godfrey would be topics I can speak to strongly and confidently, Black Uhlan of the Rhine, Sharkboy, Primo, and Baer I'd probably take a schooling on.

Smaller guys I'd be a casual with casual interest in. Thompson, Corbett III, McLarnin, etc, are names I know and know the era but not men I really know much about.
