roy jones is 5'11 - his reach is 74"
tyson is 5'10 - his reach is 71"
but then your reach determines your style often, tyson would fight on the inside with his shorter arms

Your reach is about the same as your height.

I'm about 5,10 and my reach fingertip to fingertip is a dead 71 inches. I forget if boxers are measured to fingertip or knuckle though?

It's fingertip to fingertip, i'm 73" which is a little longer than my height which is about 71.5-72".

Surely the fingertip to fingertip method is abit crap though because the skinnier you are the less your reach is shown as in comparison, despite possibly being the same. You think about someone who is very built, their chests and shoulder span have increased due to muscle growth and bone density which gives the illusion that their reach is bigger than it is in comparison. Ted. D. Kluck remarked that Tyson was the most compact man he'd ever met, and remarked at how short the distance was between his shoulder and elbow (yet it was just full of masses of muscle), yet Tyson's reach was normal for his height.

So, would have more muscle on you and therefore increasing your shoulder span increase your reach on paper but wouldn't significantly increase it in reality. As, although you do punch with force from your back/shoulder, you don't literally put that entire half of into it.

c my coach who is a pro boxer said the best way is from the armpit to the end of the fist thats the true reach supposibly...if u go fingertip to fingertip thats including your chest area also..not really a true reach judgment
