Few questions about fighting in the amateur ranks here. First off i'm hearing if you want a decent trainer it costs between $50-$100 an hour! I'd imagine none of you are billionaires so how do i get a decent trainer without being minted? Also i was going to join the boxing gym in my area but it just sounds like a fitness club to me. I've seen gyms a lot further out with their own websites ABA qualified trainers and pics of their fighters competing for national championships. The one by mine just happened to be on the list of boxing gyms in my area and i am not sure if they would be able to train me properly or get me amateur fights. I'm going to pay a visit in the next few days but just wanted your advice.

The $50-$100/hour would be if you wanted private one on one lesson with a trainer. Most gyms you pay a monthly fee that allows you to train there and the trainers work with you when they are available. My gym doesn't have very many boxers, so you get a lot of one on one time with the trainers. If your gym has more boxers, you'll need to show the coaches that you are dedicated by working hard so they know they aren't going to be wasting their time with you, especially as you are just beginning,
As for the fitness club thing, the only way to know is to go and try it out. See what they are doing, talk to the trainers and any of the boxers there.
Some gyms are just for boxers and have no interest in training anyone who doesn't want to compete.
Other gyms are just for fitness and don't have the knowledgeable trainers to get people ready for fights.
Other gyms (like the one I train at) do both. We have good trainers that can get people ready for fights, but we don't have enough boxers to pay the bills so we also run a fitness/boxing basics class that is for people who just want a good workout that is more fun that running on a treadmill or lifting weights. The class is also for new people who want to box, but need to learn the basic techniques and get their fitness level up first.
Only way to now is to go check it out. Don't think that it's not a good gym because they don't have a website.
