Ive had the same problem recently, only it's behind my right knee. I was normally running on avg 20 miles a week on the treadmill, but now after about 8 minutes it starts to hurt. I can use the bike, eliptical, or stairmaster with no problem for long periods of time, but when I start running for more than 8 minutes it hurts.
My friend who's in physical theraphy just told me to ice and give it a week, but it's been past that. I can still sprint with no problem, but no distance running. anyone else experience this?
