Cleaning your boots

Well after many months, and many cans of odour eater, my boots aren't smelling quite as fresh as they once had.

So before I go ahead and chuck them in the washing machine I thought I'd quickly ask just to make sure the machine won't end up ruining them somehow.

So putting it simply, how do you all keep your boots clean?
