How do you do constant head movement?

Like some guys will move their non stop in certain situations to make it harder to hit.

    1) It psychs out their opponent if they feel they can even hit them.

    2) Its easier to move the head out teh way if the head is already moving

    3) It is soemtimes done to get inside instead of slipping to react to a punch they move their head all the time so theres less chance of being hit on the way in. ie they dont have to rely on reaction time when getting close and there is little reaction time

    4) etc

My question is how do you do this constant head movement?

All I know is how to dodge with my head I dont know how to be moving it all the time hows it done?

I thought you (alexkid) were training to learn to box? Who is your trainer?
Where do you train? Why do you talk so much smack and then come on here and ask the most basic questions? I thought you and lickamulesdic and tomoopest knew everything!!!!
You should ask tommoo1 how to train with head movement I'm sure he knows, you know like Tyson did................. spit it out......

get a piece of electrical tape and then stand in front of the mirror place the tape in a 90' or perpandicular to the ground right at the hieght of your face.

shadow box in front of it being midfull of how your head is positioned. Start out with the piece of tape splitting your skull in half. quickly move your head to the left, ending with your ear being just outside of the tape. quickly move it to the left and then back to the right, each time that you move the motion should end with your ear just a anorak hair away from the tape.

do the motion slow to begin with your gaurd in proper position. take the time to feel and understand what these movement are, they are to be sharp and precise and it's not your body that moves, it's just your neck and your head that move. watch The ****els music video of 'walk like an egyptian, that's head movement.

slip right, slip left, roll under, slip left , slip right, etc. mix it up. Have 3 to 4 routines to begin each consisting of 3 to 4 of your 'defensive' moves, when ever you bust out your punches shadowboxing do one of your 3-4 defensive routines immeiately after you finish punching. DO NOT do the same sequence twice in a row, learn to mix those up in your shadow boxing and you'll be started on your way. don't do the same thing offensively or defensively twice in a row. Later, after learning to make all of those moves properly you should begin adding in more and more 3-4 step defensive routines. The different combonation of different routines is endless in number.......

the real trick to head mvement is not only about slipping shots it is also about painting a picture for your opponent of a sunny day when you're about to rain on his parade. proper head movement plays a huge part in effective feinting. With simply yet crisp movements of your head you can draw an opponnt out with their reaction to the simple gestures.

start there and get it proper with every movement being fast and sharp. The best unwritten law in the ring, when you get finished punching you'd better get that head out of the way because thats when the fists are generally fired back. never just leave it sitting at 12 o'clock or your bells will soon be ringing......... Personally. Parry and shift head right or left.

It's basic defense really but you'll be surprised just how many boxers don't do it. Amateur and profesional. Juanma got beat by Garcia literally because he wouldn't move his big ass head.

As far as movement between contact. I'm not so much fixated on moving my head to not get hit, I'm more fixated on moving my head as a distraction and while their thinking, I'm jabbing. Or leading with the straight if open.

A few boxers who I use as reference. Floyd Jr. Sergio M. Pacquiao(126-130lb side to side) Golovkin (stay in range but doesn't get hit; grazed possibly)

There's a bunch of old boxers who use the parry shift head. I can't remember all atm but I know Dempsey and Marciano used it a lot. They kinda leaned over to the right often. I don't do that tho. I also like Hasegawa's parry jump back method but its not useful for every punch. Its only for certain punches really.

Maybe this helped? Idk. It shouldn't require great exhertion of energy to do tho. Imo

There is a few ways to work on your head movement my best advice is watch some Frankie Edgar MMA fights for top notch head movement, in my opinion... He isn't the most athletic but with his head movement and angels makes up for it... I will elaborate it on more sometime this weekend i am back posting on the board. It's all trail by error your gonna have to test it out in front of the mirror and start flowing and figure out your style.... I am a boxing coach and not just an MMA guy... So i hope this helped if not i will find some stuff it or make some videos.

^Do what Rockin' said often and with your coach's supervision if you want to actually improve. Don't worry about what professional fighters are doing on TV.

When you throw punches, after the last punch of a combination move your head in a U shape. This works for when someone throws hooking punches at you too.

When someone throws straight punches at you slip them left or right.
