    If TRinidad wasnt puerto rican,

how would you rate puerto rico as a boxing country???????

they have nice fighters but not many all time greats, puerto rico is usually considered as a boxing country who ranks up their on top (of boxing countrys)but if , i thought to myself, knowing the talents theyve produced and all, would puerto rico be considered a average country without Trinidad ???????

Would Puerto Rico would be as glorified as it is today, maybe , What countrys if any would be considered greater than puerto rico cause even without Trinidad, Puerto Rico has still produced many talented fighters but other than gomez and Trinidad, Puerto Rico has no other arguably great great great fighter or am i wrong

It wouldn't be considered average. The country has a population of 3.5 million, thats less than half of NYC. It's impressive for a tiny island to have produced so many champions........

      Without Trinidad? Let me see:

Ortiz, Benitez, Gomez, Rosario, LaPorte, Camacho, Escobar, Chegui Torres, Serrano, De Jesus, Calderon....

They dont need to be ATG to be considered good in their eras. We dont need a list of ATG to argue that we had plenty of good boxers and produce plenty of world class boxers.

End of thread, sorry but this a terrible bait thread. Monumental fail...

Puerto Rico for being an Island of about 4 million people has had many ATG's. It's a great tradition and country for boxing.

I think the reason so many Mexicans don't care for Puerto Rican fighters is because Puerto Ricans tend to be big talkers, and in Mexico we are tught (even though some don't act this way here) to be humble and let your fists do the talking.

Also because Puerto Rican fighters have a style that is more of a moving style, a slicker boxing style. We like blood and guts, that's the way we were raised and the way we are trained. to come forward and take one to give one.

Just two different cultures and styles but you can't deny that PR has had some of the greatest boxers of all time.

you gotta read my thread through and through before you act like im descrediting puerto rican boxing, im just posting up a thread that may to see the thoughts of the latino longe on this,

that said, lol, ivan calderon, wilfredo vasquez jr, orlando cruz, fres oquendo, jonathan oquendo, thomas dulorme, juan manuel lopez, erik morel, john ruiz, rocky martinez, danny garcia, and many other fighters like

              the ones jtcs mentioned

Ortiz, Benitez, Gomez, Rosario, LaPorte, Camacho, Escobar, Chegui Torres, Serrano, De Jesus, Calderon....

              ,

like i also stated, puerto rico is also ..............what people assume is dead, but they are not, they are just in a phase where their talents have not gotten it done lately, they eventually will but i wonder which puerto rican will get the ball rolling

puerto rico boxing today fell off behind england, ukraine and argentina , traditionally puerto rico was up their with mexico and the United States but i wonder how long can puerto rico can be this boxing state of depression(i guess) that it is today

PR right now is in a low that was gradually coming and there is no really outstanding talent that is going to change it over night. There are a few very good prospects but you never know till they get in there with a solid fighter.

Look how early they are putting their fighters with top opponents, DeValle, Dulorme, etc. They are rushing their fighters into the big picture and not giving enough time to build
