Forget about Ring Magazine from now on

Golden Boy has fired the editors and is moving it out west. Any pretensions of being the "Bible of Boxing" goes down the toilet. It will very likely be as credible as the WWE magazine, which is also published by a promoter. Same with the already overrated Ring title belt.

For me this is the official obituary for the original Ring Magazine.

This is a developing story, but we'll be hearing a lot more about this soon. Nigel Collins (who was just fired) is a good man, but I've been skeptical about Ring since Bert Sugar ran it.

Thats bad news for boxing. I think for the most part that their ratings were legit in comparison to the ABC boys. Asa far as the Ring belt goes....I hold it in much higher regard than any of the others and fighters don't have to fork over sanctioning fee's for it. Jmo.

I've always liked and respected Collins. Especially the way he intelligently answers questions and breaks them down. I hope at least the part about him being fired doesn't hold up.

I don't have any special insight on this but, to be fair, you might be jumping to conclusions. Doug and Mike are real boxing guys and have given no reason to doubt their integrity. Print is expensive and so is running two staffs. Being owned by a promoter has the same drawbacks it did from the moment it happened.

I heard this from two writers for the magazine who are very credible. They made it clear that this was a done deal concerning the move west and Collins and staff being terminated. I'll post a link when one becomes available.
