Didn't care for him when he was fighting (liked Cassius Clay "better").. However, I didn't appreciate his skills as I should have. I've travelled all over the world..very remotest corners..everyone knew Muhammad Ali..everywhere.

I read somewhere once that Ali passed up Jesus as the most written about person in history. Not sure if it is still true, but at one time it was.

All time Pele is also a great choice behind Ali. Though I am not a fan of soccer, Pele was known worldwide and is still very well known as a representetive of his sport. I can't say, but I think he may be more popular in other countries than Jordan is and was.

Pele would be above Jordan in the UK, It just depends on what country your from in the UK Jordan is probably behind Ali, Pele, Beckham, Woods, Hamilton, gazza, lineker etc actually he is probably behind a lot of sportsmen in the UK. If you showed me a pic of Jordan i wouldn’t know who he was to be honest, i am just not big on American sports at all.
