Arguello was good but Duran was at his absolute peak in 1980...imagine a Duran/Leonard 1 beatdown exept at 135...too much for arguello to handle, even tho he has his moments

I know that Duran always says he would have killed Arguello but that's Duran lol. I have read that there was always speculation about them fighting, but I don't think it ever came close to being made. If it did it probably would hvae looked alot like Arguello's second fight with Aaron Pryor.

Help me remember, what duran/leonard I beatdown are you referring to. The fight I saw in 1980 was Duran winning by a total of 4 points between 3 cards, then duran quiting when Leonard boxed him the next time.

As for Arguello Duran I would go with Duran at 135.

Compelling matchup. I'd favor Duran slightly in this battle of ATGs. Duran was as good as I've ever seen at Lightweight but I can see Arguello's reach and power giving him trouble. Say, Duran by close decision or maybe late stoppage. In a 10 fight series I'd favor Duran by 6-4 or 7-3.

It would have been a great fight but I think Duran would have had too much for Arguello. Duran by late knockout.
