    Prime Louis would beat Tyson

Most people have said that, prime against prime, Tyson beats Louis. I can see that happening. But don't you think Louis can find a way to beat Tyson? Surely if Buster Douglas beat Tyson, whether he was in his prime or not, Louis should have a chance.

Their differences in height and weight aren't that great. Louis was 3 incher taller than Tyson but weighed around 15 pounds less.

Louis often fought bigger guys that Tyson. For example, he fought Buddy Baer who was 6'6 and weighed 250 pounds when Louis knocked him out in 1 round.

Joe Louis is rated by Ring Magazine as the greatest puncher of all-time. So I just don't get why people automatically think Tyson would beat Louis.

I guess its because peak Tyson looks so much more powerful, fast and effective than Max Schmelling who knocked Louis out or Tony Gallento who knocked him down in Louis's prime. To be honest peak Tyson is leagues above just about all Louis's title victims.

I'm a big Louis fan but have always thought that peak 1988 Tyson wins this matchup, its a tough call but I'd sway towards Tyson.

I also think Louis would beat Tyson. Prime Louis that is. And he would also beat Ali. Louis had a bigger arsenal of punches which he specialised on. He had power as well as skill. Tyson could get him in trouble, but not knock him out. Joe always came back. He was floored against Braddock, but came back.

Sure, in your wet Joe Louis wanking dreams perhaps, you bloody typical nuthugger.

Joe Louis was hurt, staggered and knocked down by some of the worst bums ever and by much lesser fighters. His china porcelain ****ty chin would not hold up, unlike Tyson who was target practise for giant Lennox' right hand for 7 rounds. Louis would have to KO the lad which isn't gonna happen like that, and he would get ko'd himself by opeining up because Tyson himself is one of the most accurate and powerful punchers ever.

Louis can't fight going backwards and Tyson would have him backing up.

                  Tyson is bigger,stronger,faster,and hits harder.

Tyson starts out so fast in the opening rounds. How would Louis's suspect chin hold up against Tyson's heavy bombs, which are much harder than anyone ever hit Louis with.

Tyson had 15-20 pounds on Louis as well.

I see Tyson coming out fast, and backing Louis up and taking him out in the early rounds, probably round one.

How could Louis beat Tyson? His only chance is to stand up to Tyson, and throw his beatiful array of combinations.Hoping to catch Tyson, and hurt him and then jump all over him for the KO.But I would put the odds about 5-1 against this.

Louis knew when to play defense and hold and when to attack and wage war. Tyson just attacked and went forward. That would prove costly against Joe.
