    How great was Donald Curry

I ordered his career set and I'm still waiting for it to come. But I did a little research on him and seen that he was suppose to be a member of the 1980 olympic team. He had an amatuer record of 400-4. He also was a lineal WW champ.

My question is how would he match up against Benitiz, Hearns, Duran, and Leonard. Also the 90's WW along with a prime Mosley.

    Thanks

At his best, which wasn't very long, he was one of the best I've seen. His ability to make his opponents miss and made them pay in the pocket was among the best and he had the skills on the outside to boot, he also had good power. If only he didn't have such problems making weight.

I remember a left hook he gave to someone on Youtube. To this day, that was the fastest hook with either hand I've ever seen in my entire life.

The left hook against Milton McCrory was a beauty.

Donald Curry was a tremendous fighter who ko'd Milt mcrory and decisioned Marlon Starling twice. He is a borderline HOF'er who could have beaten Duran and Benitez but would not have defeated Hearns and Leonard. That being said, he was an excellent fighter in his prime(82-86) and was Ring Magazine fighter of the year in 1985 with hagler

I think he'd do well in the very good WW era of the late 90s. I don't think I'd make any of those guys a favorite over a peak Curry. Likewise, I also think they'd have hell with a prime Starling. Starling-DLH would probably end in a debatable decision, but I think Marlon beats the others.

Although Curry was real good, I have a tough time picking him over those WWs of the late 70s/early 80s.
