- - Arch Boxing Master Archie had been scouting Rocky for a few fights before challenging him, and almost had him with a brief KD, but that's all she wrote for Arch who looked like a truck had run him over.

So they say. But who's bones did he crush? He didn't crush any bones, and never broke anybody's ribs either that I know of.
What Marciano was was a fairly hard puncher with great stamina and chin. His ace in the hole for punching was that he threw all his punches as hard as he could, which made his average punch harder than the average heavyweight's, not that his individual punches were so hard. He had to pound all day to get a fat slob like Cockell out of there.
You say the big boys don't all get maximum leverage. Well, then what about the ones who do get leverage? They must punch harder than little Rocky, eh? Rock is probably #10-20 on the AT heavyweight power list. I doubt much higher.
You need to stop trying to make Marciano into some kind of technical marvel--because he was not. Much as I love the Rock, I believe he would have had his hands completely full, even vs. a champ like Braddock. Tunney would kill the Rock and Corbett probably would too.
Smaller gloves are likely to cut Rocky's face in half. He wouldn't have a face left. He never could have survived as a bareknuckle fighter, for instance, because of that propensity to cut.
Marciano won the title in probably one of the few eras he could have, actually. Since Ali's time he probably would never have been heavyweight champ, although I will just say probably, because big Vlad was mighty vulnerable and had a chin no stronger than cobwebs, and likely Rock could take some of the guys Vlad took or was KOd by..
you canât have one standard applied to Marciano that requires him to completely snooze everyone with one shot, when nobody else is capable of doing this either.
when we are talking about one punch snooze power only a small few have ever done it, let alone multiple times. At heavyweight this surprisingly becomes even rarer. Although stoppages are common.
Marciano is the only heavyweight I can think of that ice cold snoozed oponents at the highest level. Louis comes in a close second.
shavers was never capable of this and never did it, not even vs light jawed fighters like Ellis or Norton. Ellis and Norton donât have better chins than Layne or Walcott.
Foreman didn’t ever do it. Frazier and Norton never lost consciousness. Frazier finished on his feet in fact after being hit flush many many times.
Liston never did it (did he ice patterson? I forget)
We saw Marciano stone cold sleep Layne, Walcott and Louis looked one wink shy of a nap (he couldn’t stand up without assistance).

All hit harder than Marciano.
The only opponent iced at the highest level by Marciano was Walcott and he was 38 years old.
Layne was never anything special he was ko'd after a continuous body bombardment had softened him up.
Rex was stopped 6 times and floored multiple times.
You are the one bigging up Marciano's power.
You list reasons why he hit harder than those I have named.
the list you have me, send me some fights to watch where they knocked somebody cold (sleeping)

Timing, surprise and placement seem to be the key factors in one-punch KOs, rather than recognition as a legendary power hitter. Walcott and Marquez were known merely as pretty fair punchers, not legendary power punchers.
Hopkins put De La Hoya out with one shot. Hopkins wasn't much of a puncher at all.
I find it’s actually quite rare. For example I can’t find a single fight with Mike Tyson actually sleeping someone.
