Where do you rank duran in

    hardest punchers of all time?

    #2
Well I dont keep a list. Pound for pound Duran was a good puncher, aggressive and concussive particularly at lightweight.

For raw pound for pound punching power I wouldn't rank him in the same league as a Hearns, Wilde, Dempsey, Jackson, Foreman, Tyson, McClellan or Foster but it is hard to think of many harder punching lightweights.

He was called "hands of stone" when he was a light weight.

He was a very hard puncher when he was a lightweight.

But not one of the greatest of all-time p4p.

Ray Leonard said he hit like a man possessed by the Devil.

Unreal....I was going to mention that.

I was going to say that Duran went up 12lbs and hurt SRL pretty bad in one of the early rounds.Later,SRL said he was hurt so bad it took him 3 rounds to recover from that punch.

So Duran could still punch pretty good at welterweight.

Yeah and I also heard Ken Buchanan needed testicular surgery after Duran won the lightweight title from him. I thought it was kind of funny watching that fight, because the announcers claim Buchanan couldn't have been hurt from a low blow because they were wearing cups. Yeah, that still doesn't mean those shots don't hurt like a mother F'er. Whoever was doing the commentary though tried to claim they were body shots that put down Buchanan but you can see in replays he was clearly hit low and when a guy called Hands of Stone hits someone below the belt, that's gotta hurt. I wonder though, why Buchanan never got a rematch or how come some of Duran's fights when he was lightweight champion were non-title fights? Were those particular opponents just unranked? And if so, why fight them. I thought when a fighter has a title they defend it every time. Sorry if I sound like a noob, just wondering about that. Didn't Davey Moore also say Duran hit pretty hard?

I guess pretty much what Sugarj said, probably the hardest punching lightweight.

Hardest punching Lightweight my ass. He was no Ike Williams. Even Ike wasn't the hardest puncher, he just comes to mind quickly because he was one of the greatest over all.
