�Elijah Muhammad told me,?Ali said, �that I can�t go.?br />
Ray said: �You won�t see a gun. Box some exhibitions. It�ll be a
snap. If you don�t, they�ll send you to jail, pick up your license. You
want to blow up your career, all you have, for nothing.?br />
�Well,?Ali said, �Elijah Muhammad told me.?br />
�Forget the old man,?Ray said, annoyed now. �Is Elijah going to
go to jail, and all those other ******s??br />
�But I�m afraid, Ray, I�m really afraid.?br />
�Afraid of what? Of the ******s if you don�t do what they told
you??br />
Sugar pressed for an answer; he never got one.

Years later he recalled: �He never answered. The kid was terrified. I left him with tears in his eyes. If you ask me, he wasn�t afraid of jail. He was scared
of being killed by the ******s. But I don�t know for sure.?br />

from my understanding, i think it was also mentioned that ali was being used. have to check the reason again. am too lazy to go back to those pages hehehe

Yeah the nation used him, Ali's draft refusal was their way of flexing their political might, did you also read the chapters that dealt with Malcolm X as as well?

It was after the Malcolm X's assasination, so Ali knew what could happen to him if he ever went against them. Ali's Press secretary Leon 4X, who had close ties to Malcolm X, was also killed soon after Malcolm X's assasination as well

Ali had basically thrown both of them to the wolves as well

Ali has never comes to terms with his role in Malciolm X's death or the fact that he could of at least made an attempt to stop it.
