Some questions for the boxing historians here

When you evaluate a fighters career how do you take the following things into account:

    Losses
    Fighting while way past prime/shot
    "Missing" certain opponents
Fights you think the fighter deserved to win
    Dominating a weak division

Well, I really don't count past-prime losses to top opposition as a past-prime fighter is SUPPOSED to lose to top opponents.....Past-prime wins over top opposition gets a fighter extra credit since they're winning when they're supposed to lose.

In-Prime losses it just deponds on who they lose to and under what circumstances.

Missing certain opponents it really just depends on the circumstances since no fighter that I can think of has been able to get to EVERYONE in their division. A particularly egregious "ducker" would lose points in my book though.

Fights they lost that I thought they should have won I pretty much treat as a wash that neither helps or hurts them.

Dominating a weak division loses points with me as I put a big premium on quality of opposition......Not just who you fight but when you fight them. It isn't enough to have a big name in your win column it has to be an in-prime big name for you to get full credit for it.

Its really hard to prove ducking, although certain fighters have tended to "miss" certain kinds of opponents. Khan-Maidana comes to mind
