    Who's the best fighter who was never the best in the world?

    Who do you think is the best fighter who was never the top dog in the world? Bonus points if he was second fiddle ot multiple guys.

      Saml Lmangford without a doubt in my mind. I think Jerry Quarry deserves a mention. He was never champ but was one of the better heavyweights out there. Not in my top 25 or maybe even 50. But when he was good, he was damn great

        I know that JAB has him number one P4P and I've seen other lists with him top five P4P...how can he have not been the best in the world if he's the best ever?

          I think they have gotten the wrong context.
          You mean "considered" the best in the world.
          They mean "Officially" the best in the world eg: Champion.

                I'm by no means whatsoever an advocate for the, "Fighter X is top-whatever, or your list is worth nothing," mindset, but I make an exception for Langford. Any credible list has him absolutely no lower than 5-7, pound-for-pound, all-time. He was simply that rare, that phenomenal.
