And if you think thats the case than you'd be wrong.
Also as I told you before I don't have an opinion on fighters that don't have sufficient footage(at very least 8 full fights for a guy who fought 100+ times)
Just out of curiosity, where did you come up with this number?

I don't rank them, I don't discuss them, I don't care about them unless their fights unless there is enough footage. For some reason you people just have a hard time accepting that. You guys can discuss the newspaper articles from 100 years ago, I'll discuss the fights I have watched .

Ok that's fair enough. You shouldn't have and problem with me deleting any post were you do mention one of these fighters under any circumstances than, right. I don't want to outright ban you because I don't think you're a troll. But I gotta be honest, people are tired of your uninformed opinions and you arguing them without knowing what you're talking about. I think my suggestion should appease everybody.

      Horsecrap.

I haven't seen video footage of Christopher Columbus landing in the Americas. I haven't seen video footage of the Battle of Gettysburg. I haven't seen video footage of Honus Wagner playing baseball.

Yet I can accept that Columbus did indeed land in America, that the North did indeed win at Gettysburg, and that Honus Wagner was an ace ball player.

I accept these things based on reading about them and seeing the results as recorded.

If every sports journalist at the time claimed that Harry Greb, for instance, was the best fighter they'd ever seen, and if Harry Greb did indeed beat seventeen IBHOF members, then I think we can safely assume that he was pretty stinking good without seeing him on video.

Personally, I think that you probably understand this concept just fine. You've simply dug your heels into this position that boxing has "evolved" over time and that any fighter from before 1980 is automatically garbage.

There are dozens of fighters whose every fight was filmed who are greater than Barrera and McCallum; your inclusion of them on your list is merely intended to get a reaction.

I don't have opinions about pre 1970s or so boxing. If you all would accept that then half of these "arguments" would go away.

But why be inappropriate, especially on threads that are intended for fighters from the BETTER era's......... And for the last time, I have seen ALL 30 rounds of the Robinson V Basilio,..... no, it's not on youtube BUT YOU CAN BUY IT,... but you won't bother, WE KNOW THAT,...... I have all 9 rounds of the Darcy V Chip fight..... the year was 1916....... WTF is what you are thinking right now...... LOL....... Get some films up dude....... I have seen Bucketloads of GREAT FOOTAGE from old-time fights, and so have many of the other posters........ you should try to get along with us,.... we're not a bad bunch once you get to know us.

Then how can you be so certain that post 1970s fighters are superior?

SBleeder, save your breath for tings and people that matter, and people who can be reasoned with.

I never said they were superior.

I think to have a real good insight into who was greatest, you need to have seen at least 5 of their fights. I mean, how much footage of Langford is there out there?! Certainly not much. And that which is available is in pretty bad quality too. So, with that in mind, I can't include Langford, Gans, Griffo, Jimmy Wilde etc. Even Greb is a stretch since I seen less than 5 of his fights, but I love his style so...heh.

                    1. Gene Tunney
                    2. Harry Greb
                    3. Sugar Ray Robinson
                    4. Roberto Duran
                    5. Ezzard Charles
                    6. **** Tiger
                    7. Thomas Hearns
                    8. Marcel Cerdan
                    9. Joe Louis
                    10. Sugar Ray Leonard

Seeing as how there is no existing footage of Greb's fights, you're either full of crap or you're 120 years old.
