I guess he was usba lw champ. Remember Davey moore had almost half the number of fights when he got his shot. -
Mayweather beat Ruben Munoz, who beat former champion Art Frias. He was ranked but of course not a mandatory. I was surprised he stopped Serrano when he did.Comment

Roger was the USBA champ so he got the shot off that. He tko'd Serrano for the Title then lost it the next year to Lockridge by tko, I think. Maybe in 85' when lil' Floyd was about 7yrs old!! After that he won a few lost a few but Roger was a good fighter as was Floyd Sr. I saw them in the amatuers and had a few a my kids fight them in regional tourneys!! They were known throughout the country as top tier amatuers from 132 to 147 and I'm pretty sure Roger competed at the open class at 139lbs. Ray.Comment

i dont know how he got his shot but he sure whupped serrano ass dint he? roger was a mf. someone on one of the threads wrote one about khan being another hearns. well he aint cuz he dont hit like hearns but uncle roger was a lot likehearns with his long range one shot ko power and his not so reliable ability to take shots.Comment
