And no, Max Baer is not one of them. He was involved in the tragic Frankie Campbell fight, but the other boxer who some say was "killed" by Baer, is Ernie Schaaf who got knocked out by Baer and later had a fight with Primo Carnera after which he died because of his injuries.

The 2 men I am talking about in this thread are Sugar Ramos and one of Duran's opponents: Hector Thompson.
Sugar Ramos was involved in tragic fights with Jose Blanco (1958) and Davey Moore (1963).
Hector Thompson was involved in tragic fights with Roko Spanja (1970) and Chuck Wilburn (1976)

I took a long time for the State Commisions to join the "modern times" as far as brain scans and be reputable in their processes of screening fighters!
The old state commisions are STILL in service in the rural areas and have been controled by the local promoter of the day! Remember the state commision for boxing is the same commision for the "circus" and "pro rastlin"
It was nothing for Jonny Smith to get tko'd in Olkl. City and then show up in Florida as Jimmy Johns in two weeks!!
The amatuer boxing national program is run more efficent than the pros!!
I've watched two men killed in the ring at a live show and watched the Benny "kid" Peret fight against Emile on TV live!
Its NOT a war its boxing and deadly serious but no one thats a real man is looking to end someones life over a purse! Ray.
