What I hate the most about boxing sites is that...

...a lot of people do not appreciate foreign fighters. And I thought about that again today because I read another comment about Kostya Tszyu. Some dude said in a thread with the topic whether Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank are "Hall of Fame"-worthy that - I quote:
If Tysu and Gatti can get in I don't see why these guys (Benn&Eubank) can't
And the thing is this: I have read that many times over the last years on boxing sites: that people say Tszyu was a nobody and he beat nobody and so on. I even remember reading that people were discussing 2 years ago (when Tszyu got inducted into the HOF) whether he was actually HOF worthy.
And that just showed me the lack of knowledge among boxing fans.

I mean, I witnessed Tszyu in his prime and I know who he was as a fighter. I know that he was the only or one of the only undisputed champions of a division when he ruled at 140. (Meaning during that time basically nobody had all titles unified except Tszyu in his division)
And then I see people over and over saying Tszyu is not HOF worthy or something similar. This is disgraceful. Tszyu is one of the best and most accomplished fighters I have ever seen in my lifetime. I just have that feeling that if he was american, people would take interest in his career and there would be no doubt if he belongs into the HOF. It makes me cringe to just think about the fact that somebody might question if Tszyu is a (deserving) Hall of Famer or not.

My two favorite fighters of all time are foreigners: Ricardo Lopez and Nicolino Locche.

... there are so many "historians", who will have us believe that modern boxers suck in comparison to the great old timers.

        HOF worthy- Loche, RLopez

not HOF worthy- Benn, Eubank, Tszyu. All exceptionaly good fighters, but none of the three have the quality wins to be in the hall. Just my opinion

No, Tszyu is borderline HOF at best. His fights were US televised anyway, so I don't think your argument for him really holds weight. He was a lot better than Gatti though. I'll give you that.

the problem is that so many people think that there is something special about today's fighters. As if a lightweight of today is automatically better than one from earlier generations.

People come up with bogus reasons:
              1. genetic change - NOPE.
              2. better physical training - really then why are we going back to earlier methods (kettleballs, etc...)
              3. better nutrition - give you that one
              4. better understanding of physiology - give you that one too

But people forget that fighting skills and training have been around for 1000s of years. And they also forget that people fought a lot more often 50 years ago and, as there was one title, the best fought each other way more than they do today. This fact alone gives extra skill points to earlier fighters.

What do you mean by 'foreign fighter'?

I live in the US so Tszyu, Benn & Eubank are all foreign fighters in that regard.

I watched all three fighters from the start of their careers & love them all.

All three had better careers than Barry McGuigan (another fighter I love & watched from the off) yet he's in the HoF so why shouldn't they be?

I think it's now time for Canastota to have an 'elite' section of their HoF which no more than 50 boxers & 10* non-participants can be allowed into.

So we can choose them from the HoF list now & if anyone currently fighting is good enough to crack the Elite list one day good for them.

                * - those figures are just off the top of my head. At 3am. After a couple of beers.

                  You mean " Foreign = non-american " , don't you ?

This is because of the fact :

" Most of boxing forums are american , and the majority of americans are IGNORANT about the world , don't know anything about anywhere other than their states , war zones of their young soldiers , and tourist attractions for their vacation

Majority of them don't know **** about Geography or History of the world
                  "

This is an undisputed fact , and real americans admit it .

but I can't deny that american boxers - regardless their heritage - are the best in the world

my ultimate favourites are : Muhammed Ali and Tyson

I'm sure you're a great person and all that but if you're going to write a post about how ignorant people are please spell Muhammad Ali's name correctly.
