    If hagler beat leonard

Some say he did. Suppose he did and continued to fight until being dethroned who would have done it and when.

Not sure. From what I've heard in bios about Hagler, he seemed ready to retire and was making a comeback himself to fight Leonard, which is why Leonard finally agreed to fight him. So if he beats Leonard, he maybe fights one more time, he probably wins by a stoppage late and retires.

you do not think he had monzon's record on his mind. I have read he was so confident in beating Leonard and was negotiating with Donald Curry for the next fight.

        Hagler vs Curry

I researched this subject as much as I could, & found nothing to support any negotiations about fighting Curry, it does seem that they were heading in that direction, had Hagler beat Leonard, that would have been 2 megafights in a row for Hagler to retire on, he surely would have easily beaten Curry, as I believe Curry would have not been as good as MW, and Honeygan beat him, before they could meet as Champs in 2 divisions, even after Hagler lost, there seems to still have been a chance for them to fight next, but Hagler retired.

Curry was another example of what could have been with his career if he had trained hard all the time, listened to his camp & done it the right way, instead of his way, once he lost, it was over, kinda like when Pryor took Arguello's heart & drive in the 1st fight, he had none left for the 2nd one.

A rematch with Hearns is more likely, Herol Graham was stepped aside and lost to Sumbu Kalambay, probably Hagler beats the hitman again and will go on to break Monzon's record by beating Kalambay, who owns a win over Barkley, McCallum and Hagler's half-brother Robbie Simms.

I clearly remember it stated on television that Donald curry wanted to fight haggler but who knows what if any negotiations there mighta actually been. if I remember right curry woulda been the biggest draw to be in line for haggler. he was a marquee kinda fighter at that time. maybe a rematch with leonard or hearns but if marvin did hang around to beat monzons record, he woulda quit right after. he really was ready to retire when he did. maybe even woulda retired after the mugabi fight if not for the leonard fight. within a couple years of the leonard fight, Michael nunn became the bigshot in there n by then with a couple years of age on him, haggler wouldalost to nunn

I think Kalambay or McCallum beat Hagler in 88

There was a boxing magazine in late 1985 that headlines Donald Curry saying he was better than both Hagler in Hearns, after his defining KO win over Glen McCory, three years later, Curry resurrected his career after 2 straight losses, winning the WBC 154lbs belt, and was in position to fight Sugar Ray Leonard, of course, SRL chooses to break the "record" opting to fight for two titles on the same night against a paper champion Donny Lalonde.

Michael Nunn beats him in 1988, or 1989.
