Where does Floyd Mayweather Jr's longetivity stand?

Correct me if I'm wrong but Mayweather has been ranked in the pound for pound top 10 since 1998. Did anybody else rank for longer than 15 years or similar? And if not pound for pound then general rankings would be interesting to know as well.

His longevity is impressive if I was to guess robinson would have been world rated from 1943 through 1960 or longer not counting his layoff. It will be interesting to see how much longer he will fight.

Stands quite highly of you ask me.

People say what they want about Floyd Mayweather but this is a guy that has been considered a Top 10 P4P list for 15 years. 15 years, incredible when you think about. Many Of those as the #1.

He's fought and beaten more Top 5 ranked opposition in the division being fought in than a long list. Not the Ali's, Robinsons, or Charles' but he's up there.

He's fought more Top 10 P4P ranked fighters (according to the Ring Magazine) than almost anyone in history.

He ties the record with most past, present and future world champions beaten with Chavez.

If he wins FOTY this year, which, if he beats Canelo is likely, he will be the first fighter in history to win the FOTY in 3 separate decades (I think. Duran might have done that in his career)

Champion in 5 divisions. 3 of which Lineal (Could be 4 come September)

Pretty decent career if you ask me and its still not finished.

Negative: It is easier to fight at the top for longer now as there are less fights. Top level fights of the past would have fought significantly more fights in the space of time that Mayweather has been at the top. Therefore Mayweather's record at the top does not fair as well compared to a number of the old timers.

Positive: To be at the top for 15 years at the standard he has been at is remarkable regardless. There might be question marks on missing the odd fighter and the timing of fighting some fighters but he has fought a lot of top fighters for a long period of time and has beaten them all. Not only that but bar a couple of exceptions he has beaten them all pretty definitively. It is a long time to hold yourself together not just physically but also mentally.
