patterson might get blasted.
if a guy didn't have a beard sanders would at least have a shot. he had very good handspeed, was a southpaw, and obviously had the power.

To me a great fighter is a fighter with exceptional skills, who can compete at the top level and can have at least a performance to show what they are capable of achieving. We do get into some grey area when we discuss guys like Douglas and Sanders but...well its a matter of opinion. In my mind if douglas or sanders had trained harder, fought more consistantly, perhaps had better coaching they may have been elite.
Greatness is the level you perform at...In Sanders case he almost starched Vitali as well if you watch that first round.
