Still gotta go with floyd.... Floyd has been p4p longer than hopkins... hopkins didn't get p4p till the MW tourney, floyd had already been p4p for 3 years....
Plus floyd wouldn't lose his debut, draw with mercado, and look to get out of a fight vs allen

    I rate floyd higher
Floyds been higher P4P basically the entirety of ther careers.

Then again, the same can be said about Mayweather and Pacquaio.

There aren't many fighters, if any, that have stayed in the top 3 P4P ask of as Mayweather has, or #1 P4P.

Apples to Oranges. There have been some great points made about different strengths and weaknesses. And when it comes to competition there are always going to be caveats...things like the size difference regarding Tito and Hopkins, the time when Floyd fought Sugar Shane, Oscar and even Judah, these guys were already twilight.... Etc.

Jas made a great point about the contrversal nature of hopkin's losses...I would argue he beat Taylor twice and could have been given the Calzighe decision, but regardless he won at least some of those.

Yet at the end of the day we have one guy who has to be evaluated on distinct phases of his career and another guy for pure ability. Hopkins is a throwback fighter a guy who could probably be competative against most, except the real elite ATG's like Jones (at his prime). Mayweather is more of a guy like Jones. A talent who picked his battles but has showed some incredible chops that make one believe he would be competative against the likes of Leanard, Robinson...etc.

Different fighters, different ways of being ATG's. Hopkins comes from the Archie Moore mold imo. A guy who is crafty, has all kinds of skills, will figure out your weaknesses and expliote them given the chance. mayweather is more like Jones. Superb talent, displayed by beating decent competition and avoiding other competition.

If Mayweather has to fight on like Jones he will get smashed like Jones. And yes...Jones was the superior raw talent.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion I guess but I personally would rate Floyd over both Hopkins and RJJ.

Jones was the superior raw talent but Mayweather has the superior skill set.

If Floyd were to fight on I could see him being effective even once his reflexes and speed fade away because his fundamentals are so sound.

i would like you to elaborate on this.

"so much light" - Really? I don't see it.

The big problem for Floyd is that his techniques require a lot of split second reactions, also the shoulder roll does not work well against a jab. I do think despite this he would have some success, I just think these things would be a problem.

I do agree that Floyd is technically elite while Roy is an athletic marvel. But prime for prime Roy's speed and what it did to Toney (another technical marvel) is very telling.

His speed weren't that telling in the first Montel Griffin fight though.
