    Mike Tyson's excellent resume.

I often read how todays young boxing fans claim Mike Tyson fought a load of stiffs and his resume is nothing special. Let's take a look at Tyson's incredible resume.

Trevor Berbick - Reigning Champion, who had went 15rds with Prime Larry Holmes and beat former champions, Muhammad Ali, Greg Page, John Tate and Pinklon Thomas.

James Smith - KOd Frank Bruno and former champions Mike Weaver & Tim Witherspoon inside one round. Very tough opponent.

Pinklon Thomas - Former champion (29-1) who was avoided as champion by Larry Holmes, beat Weaver & Witherspoon.

Tony Tucker - Undefeated young Champion (34-0) well schooled fighter.

Tyrell Biggs - Former Olympian and undefeated contender who had beaten several quality contenders.

Larry Holmes - Former long time WBC Champion (48-2) suffers only KO loss of his career, who went on to fight 3 more times for Heavyweight title. went 22-3 after Tyson defeat.

Tony Tubbs - Skilled former champion (24-1)

Michael Spinks - Undefeated Two Weight Champion (31-0) "The Man who beat The Man".

    Frank Bruno - (32-2) 32KOs = Future Heavyweight Champion

Carl "the Truth"Williams - (22-2) both losses to World Champions. Lost highly debatable decision to Larry Holmes.

James Douglas - Excellent and highly skilled fighter.

Alex Stewart - 24-1 (24KO) Top contender who had lost once on cuts, KO1

Razor Ruddock - Top Contender (25-1) Brutalized twice by Tyson.

Andrew Golota - Top Contender, Brutalized in 2rds.

Frans Botha - Former Champion (39-1)

Frank Bruno - Reigning Champion who is destroyed in 2rds

Bruce Seldon - Reigning Champion who is destroyed in opening round

Evander Holyfield - Long reigning 4 times champ

Lennox Lewis - Long reigning champ

Mike Tyson also fought fringe contenders (Top 20) Danny Williams, Lou Savarese, Brien Neilson, Cliff Etienne, Orlin Norris, Buster Mathis Jr. Henry Tillman, Mitch Green & James Tillis.... Other than Evander Holyfield & Muhammad Ali, Tyson fought more world champions than any other heavyweight champion in history. His resume is excellent.

His problem is his opponents got into drugs or simply had personal problems that cut their primes short. A lot of them had the talent to become much greater than they were. But history has no mercy, to most people you're only as good as your record and accomplishments show.

Most never had any history of Drugs until after losing to Tyson.

One of the issues here is that their are "champions" that will NEVER go down in history as great fighters simply because they had one of the titles for a few minutes. Your using a title to declare high skill levels and that isn't the case with many on the record! Seldon?? Bruno??? Really??
Tyson's win over Holmes for example is no where near Holmes prime run.
I don't care if he fought for 15 more years when the prime time is gone its gone!
In this sport it's a loss but it has less meaning compared to prime time defeats!
            Spinks on one wheel?
Theres tons of holes in the record being bragged as a great one. It's good because after he fought the prelim guys he took on top ten men and every fighter needs to be applauded for that.
Just because a name is recognizable doesn't mean high skill levels come with it. Wlad will be well known because of the amount of time he has held the title but that doesn't mean he will be revered as a high caliber talent.
Tyson's record is a good one and with the prison time interupting some prime years he did well.

Pro boxers have Records!........Pro work force folks bring Resumes when searching for work.

            Ray.

Yeah, he has a decent amount of depth there. A lot of very good names. Issue is that he doesn't have any wins over any ATGs. past prime Larry Holmes isn't really that great of a win imo. What Holmes did post Tyson is kinda irrelevant considering Larry's shape & his long layoff prior to fighting Tyson.

Lennox Lewis has a better resume. He also beat common opponents with greater ease than Tyson.

                    Tyrell Biggs- TKO 3
Tony Tucker- UD Scored 117-111, 116-112, 118-111, Tucker down in 3rd and 9th rounds
                    Frank Bruno- TKO 7
                    "Razor" Ruddock- KO 2
                    Evander Holyfield- Robbery Draw 116-113, 113-115, 115-115 and UD Scored 116-112, 117-111, 115-113
                    Francois Botha- KO 2
                    Andrew Golota- KO 1

Bruno is literally the only exception. Bruno was a good fighter that would be an ATG in this era. Bruno did better against young in shape Lewis than prime in shape Klit did against old shot fat under motivated Lewis.
