Beating the fighter who had beaten the man who beat you..

Is that another way to avenge your loss? For example, Hearns beats Duran.. Barkely beats Hearns.. Duran beats Barkely..

Most fighters have styles that beat theirs naturally. Ex. an outside fighter usually beats and brawler. This isn't the case every time because skill level also comes into account. A truly great fighter will be equally great against all styles. So to answer your question...no, because the fighter does not posses the skill to beat the fighter they originally lost to.

Anyone who saw Hearns crush Duran would have a hard time buying into that theory.

        Triangle theory doesn't work..

        Styles make fights..

Hopkins would always have problems with taylor, who would always have problems with pavlik, who would always have trouble with hopkins

I agree with your answer to the question, but disagree with the statement in red. They cannot be equal everywhere. Even Robinson did not look as good against Gavilan, whre his instinct told him to just box. But I agree that great fighters nearly always show a high degree of adaptability. Ali was not equally great against Norton's style compared to most of his performances, but was one of the adaptive fgihters ever in a ring. Every fighter has weaknesses, or at least a weak link in their armor somewhere. I believe boxer-puncher is the superior style in boxing, but it is also my belief that most fighters hate to come up against an energetic swarmer with a good jaw. They would much rather have someone they can pick apart from the outside.

To be fair, Roberto just never saw Tommy's right hand come in.. As Hearns never saw Barkely's right..

Hearns beat the crap out of Duran for every second of that brief fight. It wasn't like he was caught with that shot out of nowhere. Barkley-Hearns I was another story.

Tommy was outboxing him but the fight had barely just begun.. Iran was outboxing Roberto by that point in the fight, as well..

Hearns wasn't just ouboxing him. He dropped Duran twice in the first round, cut him, and Duran was hurt and never fully recovered from that shaky first round. Barkley didn't do anything close to that with Duran.

On the other hand with Hearns- Barkley, Hearns was beating the crap out of Barkley before he got caught. I don't see the similarities other than the knockouts.

Like Joseph said, Hearns was beating the crap out of Duran. You may want to rewatch that. And I was referring to Barkley's fight with Hearns, not Duran.
