Trainer thinks i'm ready after a great sparring session

I've had a cold all this week and on wednesday my trainer told me to get in and spar with this 28 year old chisled tall and lanky brazilian dude whos way more experienced than i am. I've only really been going for like 5 months and im 17. Anyways, i said i didnt really want to cause i wasnt feeling good and this guy loves to give it 110% against the inexperienced people. My trainer said go to war with him and kinda reluctantly i said fine ill do it. I got an important night with a girl this weekend and the last thing i needed was to have her see me all bruised up looking so i just gave all i had and pressured him constantly. I ended up beating him up and down pressuring him against the ropes landing combinations and big right hands. He said he had no energy that day, and i kinda believe him because it seemed that he didn't throw many punches. He was just trying to land huge punches and he only landed a few of them that i can take no problem. Anyways, my trainer said when i got to the gym before we started that i could be ready in 2 months but after my performance he said im ready as is. I live in london ontario and in june we're going to drive down to detroit so i can get 1 or 2 fights in against better competetion since the talent in Canada is very limited. Is this a good idea or should i first try to get in a fight against someone much ****tier here in canada. Personally i'd rather fight in detroit for my first fight because around here the competition seems terrible and getting experience in against people from detroit will make it a cakewalk when i come to Canada to fight. What do u guys think?

We have all had good and bad sparring sessions. The question is, how bad are the bad ones? You know you are ready to compete when you can make it difficult for your opponent to hit you, even when you are having a bad day. If at any time you are easy to hit, that means you are not ready to win a competition. Being ready to fight is not the same as being ready to win. Could I ask your height and weight?

if u dont have much boxing experience and just like to brawl youll probably have a good chance of losing, judges dont particularly like brawlers and will probably go with the more experienced boxer. i speak from experience. i was placed in the ring to early and was just a brawler it was a close fight but i lost coz i lacked the proper knowledge of how to box. just an opinion, maybe train abit longer, if your not sure about it dont fight, you have to be 110% sure you wanna fight.
