Had my 2nd day of training yesterday, and I got some comments/questions

So I signed up at a boxing gym recently and had my first real training session yesterday. some questions i have:

The hardest thing for me is fighting against my arm muscles fatiguing. After a few rounds of punching I feel like my arm weighs 50 pounds. Whats the best way to build endurance for your arm muscles?

When you hit the heavy bag, are you supposed pretend your punching through the bag? Because when I hit it it always swings kinda far, more than most people, and I'm pretty skinny (5'11 145), so maybe I'm doing something wrong? Or are you supposed to pull it back right when you make contact?

My trainer made me lift weights at the end of the session. By then my arm muscles were so tired i couldn't lift anything. He was looking at me like a wimp, but how does he expect me to have any strength to lift if I used it all up punching? Do people normally do weights at the end of the session? Isn't it better to do it at the beginning?

Don't laugh but I realized I can't jump rope for my life!! I can do about 4-6 revolutions but then the rope keeps hitting the top of my shoe. Does anybody have any advice, anything at all no matter how basic it sounds would help.

Can't help you with anything but the jump rope.

I was like that at first to, then after about 2 days of practice I had it down. Don't get discouraged so quick, just keep practicing and you'll get it.

        okk...
first thing u said about ur arms.. thats the first thing boxing will work out for ppl who just start, your arms will go through changes and get really tired. but fight through it, keep punching... and the more u work out the longer n longer n they will last... eventually u will not even worry about ur arms gettin tired bcuz they will be in such great shape...

for the hvy bag.. just hit it and connect ... when i hit the bag i mainly think about timing, and connecting clean so u dont hurt a wrist or hand... u can throw speed punches or u can throw power punches.. when the bag swings its part of the training to work with it, and punch based off of its movements.. take what it gives you... just try to control it with the jab and right hand, and take what it gives u.

with ur trainer making u lift weights after... jus speak up n say ur arms are already dead from the boxing so u cant lift much weight... sure it might be a good workout technique.. but bottom line is u dont wanna hurt urself, u wanna be not too sore so u can come right back to the gym asap..

and about the rope... just find ur own way to do it, or ask someone for advice... im a rookie with a rope myself. the main thing is to just keep going, no matter how much u **** up.. its like a fight, just show heart and no quit

if the heavy bag is swinging a whole lot, unless it's a really light weight bag, it means you're pushing it more than punching it. snap those punches out there.

My advise, don't lift any weights, makes u tight. U get to muscle bound and u will swing to wide and get countered all day. also it takes away from ur speed and from speed will come natural power. Also if u HAVE to lift, lift first and stretch afterword. shadowbox also a couple of rounds to loosen ur muscles up. good luck

Just keep training and you'll find your arms take longer to fatigue. Not to get too scientific but that fatigue is caused by lactic acid build up in your muscles. Lactic acid builds up when a muscle performs an activity without the use of oxygen (Anaerobic). Every individual has a natural lactic threshold, that is a limit at which they start feeling fatigue. The more you train the more your threshold will increase and the longer you'll be able to let your hands go! Along with the training it's good to do 2min interval runs with 1 min rest. This helps to increase your lactic threshold.

Sorry for the scientific ****, but sometimes it's good to know the science behind your training.

Good luck bro, keep training hard and everything will start to come together.
