    got a big problem...

i been in my gym for about a month now... first time i came in me n the trainer talked n did padwork and ****.. but i been coming in a lot lately and i havent said one word to him and vise versa... it kinda bugs me i wanna work with him and see what he thinks of me and my potential n ****.. but i dont seem to get the chance... im not saying he is a **** n doesnt work with me... i just dont speak up, its how i am... i know i should ask him.. but i dunno how to say it .. i dont wanna come across like some stuck up new rookie who thinks he is the ****..

should i tell him i wanna be a fighter and wanna learn everything he knows?
or go about it with a more laid back approach n ask him simply to work the pads / work on defense / etc.. basiclly one thing at a time rather then jus drop the bomb on him...

i dunno wut to do.. today was an eye opener for me.. i thought it was mainly cuz the gym is packed and he cant work with everyone.. but today i went in.. NO ONE was there but him... and i came in said hi, started my workout, hoping to do some pads. but he was on the phone.. then a buddy of his came in and started talkin to him and again, we didnt say a word to eachother... i dunno what to do. he might be thinkin i dont wanna force this kid to do pads or to learn if he dont wanna.. but i really DO wanna.. i just may come across like complete opposite.. i gotta get that across to him or im gunna have serious problems...

here i am wanting to fight, and i am still on the shelf cuz i cant even talk to my trainer lol.. this isa huge problem, it has to do with the fact that im a little shy in big crowds, laid back, i dont really have mad confidence n no swagga in my walk like some ppl in gyms.. i guess it makes me quieter...

I have been to three gyms. The one thing that they all have had in common is that the trainers and coaches are straight-up, no-bull**** people. They do not have the time or energy to **** around and worry about hurting a young fighter's feelings. I would suggest that you talk to him, but I would also suggest that you brace yourself because he may point out some flaw in your character that rubs him the wrong way. What sucks is, he'll probably be right. No offense. A coach's job is to determine where you're weak and make it strong. In this sport, sometimes you'll have your weaknesses pointed out to you painfully in front of a crowd. Boxing is about growth through pain.

Man up and sit down for a no-****ter with the boss.

    Good luck.

tell him what you want to do. if you wanna fight then say so, the last thin you wanna do is go to there wanting to be a fighter n be unnoticed by the trainer right ?

Maybe you should just SHOW him through your work at the gym, that he should work with you? Work your ass off, make him notice you. Being a trainer myself, I sometimes neglect new people in the gym untill they show me I won't be wasting my time with them.

one of the worst things is you go to a gym
the trainer just concentrates on the main guy in the gym
than what you do is up and challenge that best guy and then the
trainer gives u a 2nd look when you've shown his pride and joy up
in front of the entire gym goers i done that
now the trainers always with me

wth man..speak up! if you wanna do some pad work, just say" are you gonna mitt me today?" if you dont have a good relationship with your trainer then its gonna be really hard to go any where..

what sort of thing impresses you or the other trainers? any qualities other than physical qualities you notice?
