    Head Movement!

    how can i practisce head movement?

    Type "slip bag" in google.

    If you got a double end bag available to you, what i do is stay close to it and punch hard enough for it to come back and hit me with enough force to hurt. Thats motivation enough for me to keep my head moving.

    A quick note on head movement though.

    Head movement has less to do with actually moving your head as youd think. Its more about pivoting your body on your toes, moving your hips and torso from side to side. If you do this your head will move. Moving your head alone wont get you very far. It can help but its not the major factor.

    If you move your head tooo much youll be disrupting your stance e.g. pulling your head back too far will leave your chin open and moving your head from side to side wont help for **** as theres really only a limited range of movement. Your head basically stays in the same place just at a different angle.

    In conclusion upper body movement is the biggest contributor to head movement. So try to concentrate on that more.

    (Why isnt it more frequently called upper body movement?)

          for the slip bag u could just pierce a whole through a tennis ball and tie a string through it and hang it over something and bob and weave

            In our gym we do a few different types of drills for head movement, but one that I would recommend is, find someone to work with you, have them throw 1-2s at you with full intent, while you have your hands behind your back, you will also have to incorperate a decent amount of footwork because he should be pushing towards you.. dont be surprised if you get a bloody nose if your head movement and footwork are a little rusty..               This is a prime technique in the Sheffield, Brendan Ingle inspired gyms i've been told..

              gyms that spawned fighters like Bomber Graham and Naseem Hamed, Jr Witter..etc

              Now watch Prince Naseem - and tell me he doesn't have the greatest ability to slip punches with his head/body movement.
