    Weight lifting.

Hey I bought some good dumbells. The good ones with metal ehm "rings"that u can put on/off.. I got total weight of 5.5 kg, that's 12 LBS. If i do like normal weight lifting per arm i can do 30 of em.. Is this good? Bad? Weak? Comments please

Sorry but thats pretty weak, don't know how old you are though. I'm 16 and I can go on for 15 minutes easily doing curls with 5kg... And I'm not even that much of a strong guy... I don't do curls anymore though since it seems to be bad for boxing.

itf it feels heavy for you then it is really good for you,

just do some curls on each arm, and do exercisees with them so that your muscles hurt and push yourself,

you will devolp strength ion your arms

i've always learned dat weight lifting isnt TOO necessary in boxing. it is good to do it but alot of hitting the heavy bag will help. and focus on abdominal workouts. bulk up and loose speed but dont lift and loose hardness. and yes der is a difference between speed and hardness.

Don't they help your cross/hook punching power ( and probably other kinds of punching power ) if you do those deep lifts when you sit on a chair leaned down, taking them from the floor, up to your shoulder? And i know most of the power comes from punching with the body but still, having some arm muscles does help

Before boxing, i used to workout to build mass. What you're lifting right now technically isn't a matter of being good bad or weak.. It's a matter of what you're capable of lifting and depends on what you're trying to achieve, whether you're trying to get stronger, toned or just physically fit. For strength training, lift heavier weights but do less reps. but make sure its not heavy to the point where you're stressing yourself.. the last thing you want to do is hurt yourself while weight lifting. But since you're younger, i'd encourage you to lift lighter weights and more reps for toning and endurance so you dont make the mistake of hurting yourself. Google some workout routines to help you out to make sure you're lifting right. Good luck

                  I agree with this......

Your bones are still developing....If you lift heavy now your tendons become less pliable and more rigid...having rigid tendons will restrict bone growth during your adolescense....you will stunt oyur growth....

High reps low weight & body weight plyometrics....
