How do you get your jab faster>?

i was sparring today and it just felt like every time i was throwing a jab it was super slow...im wondering if my jab is just slow or is it since my sparring partners are backin up at the same time im throwing it? How do you guys get your jab faster?

Keep your gloves open until you impact and keep your arm when you throw close to your face. Also bring it back to your face as fast as possible, like its a game.

I try and snap it out and back like a whip. Still now I'm 35 my hand speed isn't what it used to be, so it's more like a piece of string than a whip now

First option is to shadowbox being very relaxed working on speed and combinations. Another option maybe is getting 1kg dumbells and throwing combinations of flurries. Another good drills is punch out drills this will improve stamina, power and speed. Punch as fast and as hard as you can for 30 seconds by 3 rounds.

yeah, if youre looking for a secret, there isnt one. its about work and practice. i reckon using waits for shadow could be very effective and in fact i might try that.

Using your brain when formulating coherent sentences comes in handy too.

            Especially how to spell "weights".

Boxing is both a mental and physical game.

Just keep in mind that timing and accuracy beat speed.

Good advice there. I would also add what I call the Calzaghe flurry (probably got another more suitable name however). Basically stay close to the bag and hit lots of small patter punches with continuous 1-2 movements, I usually do around 1,200 at a time. Really brings the sweat out and I felt the benefits with regards my strength, movement and stamina pretty quickly.

Kryo wtf is your problem? All i ever see you post is negative stuff, talking down people and taking the piss outta spelling. You go on about how you have put 3 years of your life into boxing and that **** and you never post videos of you (as far as i know) You'd rather just diss everyone else.

Also, threadstarter...The secret is practice really. Thats it, you get more used to throwing, to get faster. Thats what happened with me. I seem to be getting faster all the time through experience and practice.

resistance is the key, i shadowbox in water, or shadowbox with 2 or 3 lbs weight. Also you can lift weights, remember you are not a bodybuilder, with medium to small weight with a lot of repetitions for strength and speed.
