A marathon is much easier than boxing.

Boxing is just like running a marathon except for the fact that somebody is beating on you, the whole way, while you're trying to run it.

But without roadwork and proper cardio you will be gassed out in a round for most people

Yes, marathon running can benefit your boxing by improving your cardiovascular endurance, which is crucial for sustained performance in the ring. Balancing your training and ensuring proper rest and recovery are key to avoiding overtraining and maximizing the benefits of both activities.

Yes, running marathons can benefit your boxing by improving cardiovascular endurance, which helps with stamina and recovery in the ring. However, marathon training can fatigue your legs, so it's important to balance it with your boxing workouts. Consider running on non-boxing days, focusing on recovery, and ensuring boxing remains the priority. Many athletes successfully combine both, just be mindful of overtraining.

I think road running is overrated for boxing, short sprints are more suited for the quick bursts that boxing entails. Ali ruined his legs and the bounce in his feet ankles knees from excessive road work in boots. Ali lost his legs in his early 30s. Klitschkos both avoided running and did swimming for cardio. Both of their legs lasted to late 30s too. But when you're young you are an iron man so doing a marathon is good achievement. But if you're a big fella, over 200 pounds the 26 miles can really do a number on your joints long term. Marathons are brutal for bigger fellas.
