Hi everybody, I boxed again last night, it was my 7th bout against a boy who had 9 with an average record, I can't remember what it was exactly.
Once again I feel like I've been ****ed over, by judges and the referee. Everybody else said I won, and it was close but I thought I took what he had to give and came back with more in the 2nd and 3rd.
In the first round I started slow, and my opponent came out ****ing. He caught me with a left hook in the first 30 seconds, his best shot of the fight. I took it well, but I could feel he was stronger than anyone I'd boxed before. He gave me some boot in the first minute, but I held it together and warmed into the bout towards the end of the first, although I definetely lost the first.
The second started as the first ended, and was fought evenly until the latter half, when I rallied and started to pick up points. I think I was getting to him in this round as he was expecting me to wilt under his pressure, but I got stronger and stronger the longer it went. The referee took a point off of me in the second, which most people felt was a dubious decision, for me going down to low when i ducked and slipped punches. However, I thought I did enough to nick the second and so did most other people.
The 3rd was a different story, I came on strong and hit him with some big shots. I was fitter and it showed, he had hit me with his best shots and I kept coming and I think this discouraged him.I broke from a clinch and hit him two or three times, and he dropped his hands, allowing me to hit him at will. I caught him with a few straight rights and left hooks and hurt him. I could have been able to finish him off, but for some reason the referee stepped in and told him to defend himself at all times... why?? Surely if he thought he was hurt or unable to defend himself he should have administered a standing count? Apparently not, and the bell rung moments later. I shook everyones hand, and my opponent looked defeated, and I'm sure his corner thought I won. When the referee looked at the scores, we noticed him shaking his head, and the scores were announced as a majority decision for my opponent. Soon after the referee apologized to my corner for taking a point! Why take a point, and then apologize afterwards? He came into my dressing room and apologized again, as it was probably this that cost me the fight. My opponent shot off sharpish, nobody had a chance to talk to them or anything.
Don't get me wrong, it was a close fight, but when you can't get a decision in your hometown, it makes you wonder.....
I will try and upload a video, if I can lol.
