    Boxed last night......

Hi everybody, I boxed again last night, it was my 7th bout against a boy who had 9 with an average record, I can't remember what it was exactly.

Once again I feel like I've been ****ed over, by judges and the referee. Everybody else said I won, and it was close but I thought I took what he had to give and came back with more in the 2nd and 3rd.

In the first round I started slow, and my opponent came out ****ing. He caught me with a left hook in the first 30 seconds, his best shot of the fight. I took it well, but I could feel he was stronger than anyone I'd boxed before. He gave me some boot in the first minute, but I held it together and warmed into the bout towards the end of the first, although I definetely lost the first.

The second started as the first ended, and was fought evenly until the latter half, when I rallied and started to pick up points. I think I was getting to him in this round as he was expecting me to wilt under his pressure, but I got stronger and stronger the longer it went. The referee took a point off of me in the second, which most people felt was a dubious decision, for me going down to low when i ducked and slipped punches. However, I thought I did enough to nick the second and so did most other people.

The 3rd was a different story, I came on strong and hit him with some big shots. I was fitter and it showed, he had hit me with his best shots and I kept coming and I think this discouraged him.I broke from a clinch and hit him two or three times, and he dropped his hands, allowing me to hit him at will. I caught him with a few straight rights and left hooks and hurt him. I could have been able to finish him off, but for some reason the referee stepped in and told him to defend himself at all times... why?? Surely if he thought he was hurt or unable to defend himself he should have administered a standing count? Apparently not, and the bell rung moments later. I shook everyones hand, and my opponent looked defeated, and I'm sure his corner thought I won. When the referee looked at the scores, we noticed him shaking his head, and the scores were announced as a majority decision for my opponent. Soon after the referee apologized to my corner for taking a point! Why take a point, and then apologize afterwards? He came into my dressing room and apologized again, as it was probably this that cost me the fight. My opponent shot off sharpish, nobody had a chance to talk to them or anything.

Don't get me wrong, it was a close fight, but when you can't get a decision in your hometown, it makes you wonder.....

I will try and upload a video, if I can lol.

I've seen a vid of another one of your fights and you aren't a bad boxer at all mate. It does sound like you have lost a few close ones, but that's the sport man. 2 of my 3 losses have been one point fights that could have gone either way. My record is 5-3 but it could just as easily read 7-1.

The ref shouldn't have taken a point off for ducking too low, a warning first is standard. Just keep training hard and fighting those guys of that calibre and start beating them clearly, then keep moving up.

I started off with a loss, then started beatign novices fairly easily, then stepped up vs a guy with about 8 or 9 fights, lost by a point, then a guy with 5 or so fights and a good record who was couple divisions heavier, again lost by a point, then a heavier guy with about 8-10 fights who was bigger, won clearly, then another guy around that level, and won clearly again. Now I've got a tournament in 5 days and to win it I'm going to have to beat a kid with 30-40 odd fights and another whos had 15-20. But I know I'm ready 4 the step up.

So you know what I mean? I lost a close one to a guy around the 8-10 fight level, then improved and started beating those guys clearly. And thats all you can do, improve, beat the guys you were dropping close fights too, and then keep stepping up.

      Good lcuk anyway man

              U already admitted u lost 2 rounds.

Why are u surprised u lost the fight?...

Besides, are u gonna make a thread every single time u lose and u don't like the outcome? Hahaha

              Let it go man...

              In my opinion u lost.

1st round went to ur opponent.
2nd round- u lost a point in which ur opponent won half the round as well. 2 points for him

              3rd round - u win

              U clearly lost...

no i lost a point in the second, my opponent didnt win the first half of the second it was fought evenly..... and i went on to win the second

                2 rounds to me
                i won

i dont make a thread every time i lose and dont like the outcome, i thought its a better idea for a thread than most of the usual **** that comes up, like how much running and is weightlifting good or not.
dont know about you but id rather talk about this than that.... i did not clearly lose, you have not seen the fight so you cant tell.

Don't worry abut your amateur record man. Just keep getting experience. If you feel you won, that's all that matters.

A buddy of mine from the gym lost his first 4 amateur fights. Went into the novice class in the USA Tournament with a 0-4 record (3 of the fights were really close fights he could easily havwe won and the other was his first fight, he choked lol) but he won the tournament and beat some good fighters on his way to the championship.
