    need some help and advice regarding knee injury

    around 2 weeks ago i injured my right knee while jogging and it hurt me to run basically i could break out into a jog but straight away i would get a constant pain oh the right knee oh the outside of it!! now i can walk fine climb stairs fine, skip pretty hard and lift quite heavy weights!! all these things require putting strain on my right knee surely

    someone said its running on a pavement but i been doing it for months without any problems and my footwear are fine

    i was just wondering if anyone knows anything i can do i bought heat spray but its not a muscular pain so its pointless and it dont hurt while am doing nothing except jogging or running so it must be a certain type of muscle joint that its using

    i have rested now for two weeks not done anything except weights and a bit of skipping and i got no pain from that

    if anyone has any comments would be a huge huge help because i wanna get running ASAP

    You may have an injury known as "runners knee". This isn't too serious and recovers naturally. However it is important to know how to avoid it. Obviously running on concrete surfaces isn't ideal but sometimes it is the only option. If a softer surface is available then use it! Running on uneven surfaces is also a common cause of this injury due to the fact that sudden dips can cause hard landings placing stress on joints. You should watch out for these dips so you dont fall hard onto your foot. Tight hamstrings and calves as well as weak quadriceps is also a cause of this common problem which is why this problem often strikes those new to running. Besides the obvious like strengthening your quadriceps and stretching your quadriceps and hamstrings and utilizing an effective warmup you should also ensure you are using the correct running technique. You should not be "bouncing". This means going higher than you need to with your feet while running and therefore landing harder placing stress on your joints. Instead try to keep your feet as close to the ground as possible during each stride. This means you expend less energy, place less stress on joints and may even increase the speed of your runs.

      dude do u know how long i have to rest for because everytime i try and jog it just rehurts over and over again

        Sop running. Switch to using a cross trainer for a few months. Do a set of hindu squats to fail once a week.

          I think you should see a doctor but If you don't think it's that serious then try cycling. I run about 20-25 miles a week and I always mix cycling in my routine. Good luck and I hope you get better.

            go get it checked out, dont wanna play around with stuff like that when it comes to your knee.

            maybe its MCL related. some guys in our gym have had issues with their knee, i remember some guy who tore his acl or whatever and he could run and all that as if nothing happened. but certain things he could not do, simple things. like getting up from a sitting position. it hurt like hell. not saying that you tore your mcl or acl or whatever, im just saying.

            im not a doctor (surprise) and i dont think anybody in hear can really give you good advice on that. like i said go get it checked out. if you really want to avoid that then my advice would be to stop running or whatever it is that makes your knee hurt for a couple weeks, its not gonna kill you. if the knee still bothers you in a few weeks when you start running again you should get it checked out
