we do it, its kinda known here in ny. nothin too special, i think its different because its usually a lead rather than having a jab or right hand before it. it really is satisfying to land though lol

LMAO, FFS, it's a f**kin' hook. It's basically a counter hook to an opponent's hook. You know how it is, motherf**Kers like to give things a nickname, at the end of the day it's a hook.

And what the hell are you talkin' about "steppin' off", lol, motherf**kers try to be different but end up sounding stup*d(not you, but you know, them "street dudes") it's called pivoting, man. So, basically he countered a lead hook and pivoted to his left.

Countering a hook with a hook of your own is boxing 101, it's not the only way to counter a hook, but, it's usually the counter of choice.

in his defense, it was emmanuel steward who coined the term on HBO during the commentary, so i'm sure it has been around for a while...or in the very least it has nothing to do with floyd trying to be unique since he never blabbed the phrase "check left hook" himself.
