i totally agree with Garziano, when you are not doing a hard session u should be doing light shadowboxing, even infront of TV of something, so u keep ur technique and skills in tact. In rest days, diet is so important, because this what decides how ur muscles repair from training.
the thing 2remember is rest must only be for 3days at max. becos after that u start to lose strength,speed....

Depends on the person. Rocky Marciano ran 8-15 miles EVERY day, even on Christmas morning. He also sparred a ridiculous amount of rounds in preparation for every fight. The guy never took a day off and probably spent more of his life in training camp than at home. He had phenomenal stamina and never appeared to be overtrained.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of people don't have Marciano's freakish constitution and their body needs a break every once in awhile. I think taking a day off every week (or at least going light that day) is a smart idea for 99% of the boxers out there.

i m curently taking seven days off.

how you guys manage totrain everyday and work at the same time is beyond my understanding.

i used to do it when i was a student and i was fighting in tons of amateurs fights , but right now the acumulated effect of work and training really would take a tool on my body.

i train 4 times a week , i t s perfect if you just want to be in great shape

It's a good idea to get one day a week rest atleast just to heal up & not to get bored.

People belive that the more they workout, ala 7 days a week, the better they will become and the stronger that their body will become. This is not true.

When you are in hard workouts you are breaking your muscles down. You will notice that you go to the gym and your muscles are so tight it would seem illogical to be able to do anything at all for a long period of time. The one days rest will give your broken down muscles time to heal, replenish and grow. You will come back strong and refreshed the next day at the gym.

On my seventh day of the workout week, I did absolutely nothing. Sometimes I would go for walks but that was it. I didnt want to see a glove and I certainly did not want to see a bag that I was supposed to hit. This seventh day I believe also to be about mental replenishing. To look over the week before and analyse your growth............Rockin'

This is a very good post and has given me some words of encouragement. I was thinking about grinding through tomorrow with my run & boxing, but I don't know. I am pretty beat up right now. I would like to train 7 days per week for the weight loss, but I feel burned out. The thing is, I was considering fasting or eating really light to maintain my weight loss progress, and bypass the usual 1 gallon of water per day.
