Losing 10 pounds for Amatuer bout in March

I'm competing in my 3rd amateur bout March 4. I previously fought at 165 and now I'm trying to get down to 152. I weight myself today (after working out) and I'm 161.

I'm trying to get down to 155 by Feb. so I don't have to cut a lot of weight the week before the fight. Any advice on dieting and training to lose weight in a short period of time?

Any idea what your bf % is? Do you run? Cardio and a good diet is the easiest way to lose a few pounds.

Yeah, I'm running like 4-5 days a week. I mainly eat fruit and for dinner I eat fish, chicken, or chicken salad. I feel like I'm going to reach a point where I can't lose any more weight.

How tall are you? If your coach tells you can, there will be a way.

stick with that diet and jump rope for 30 minutes a night at the gym and jog on the treadmill for another 20 minutes everynight to burn more calories.. along with your normal boxing routine sparring, floor + bag work, etc.. (that treadmill is just to burn more calories not a substitute for roadwork!)

I'm like 5'11-6ft...I have talked to my coach about it and he told me to go for it.

This is from experience, fight at a weight that you are comfortable at. I mean, maybe limit food intake before the weigh in but why kill yourself making some crazy weight. Is it because you believe that the lower weight class wont hit as hard or maybe that you believe that your hitting power might work better against smaller guys? You will kill yourself making weight and it wont matter. You guys weigh in the day of your bout, kill yourself to make some crazy weight and you will be a hollow shell of yourself when you step up to fight. You wont have speed, you wont have power and you wont have endurance.

Sure, everyone thinks, Hey I'll fight a lighter weight class and I'll knock them all out. I had that thinking too until I actually lost all the weight and got up there to fight. I had next to nothing in that ring.

Find a weight that your comfortable at, bust your ass training and see what weight drops off. To fast or use a sauna or any of those things will only hurt you in the long run.

Maybe step in the ring to fight a WEIGHT CLASS above what you wanted to drop down to. Don't give your opponent the fight before it even starts by weakening and draining your body before the first bell ever rings. Step in strong and confident knowing that you trained hard, gave your body every ingredient (food wise) that it needs and that you feel ready to fight.

Smaller is not always better, most times it's best to just be who and what we are naturally............Rockin'

Your right. I'm not going to kill myself to make weight. If I have to go in there at 157 and fight guys heavier it shouldn't matter. My main thing is I don't want to feel drained and I don't want to give my opponent a weight advantage. I'm kinda stuck between 165 and 152 lol I think my natural fight weight might be 158 once I train hard.

a kid at another club went from 174 to 152. his brother barely made 165 from the same weight. if youve got extra fat on you, youll drop the weight easily.

go to a track. run 30 seconds flat out, walk 90 seconds. do this eight times per session, three times per week. carry on with your day as normal after you do this running. dont eat after 8 or 9 pm and youll probably shave five pounds off the first week. this ****s easy.
or run 12 minutes flat out twice a day - before breakfast and after dinner. cut out the fruit for a little while, then bring it back. if you feel like **** its working.
