I actually do but soon I'll be a killer. ^^

Seriously though I'm talking from my own experience....I learned from videos+home bag more than in any gym I went.

It is hard to learn from videos but not impossible. I also watch pros.

you don't watch amateurs....the clean pro fights like mosley - pacman

you can test your trainer by doing something obviously wrong and if he ignores you he doesn't care.

the only really good thing to be in a gym is you get to spar with different people which indeed is key if you want to compete.

but still if you ain't talented you gonna be used mostly as punching bag for those who compete

Thank you for all your positive inputs. This is my second gym I have moved on to, I left my old gym cause the trainer there wasn't treating me equally so I thought this one will give me a chance.

I've been training here for about 3/half months now and Ive only had 1 spar so far, I want to keep sparring but he never asks me If i could have a spar.

How should I talk to him? I don't know what to say I'm abit confused atm. Seems like he ain't going to give me the opportunity, It feels like I'm wasting my time and money here.

It's hard to say, but maybe you're not very good yet? A lot of trainers won't even take a glance at you until you've been coming to the gym every day and busting your balls for a few months.

Are you in shape? Do you work hard? Are you beyond the n00b level? Are there other guys there at your size/experience level?

If the answer to any of those is 'no' then that's your reason. He's probably not showing interest because he doesn't think you're going to end up being a fighter. No trainer is going to ignore a promising young fighter, regardless of his weight.

It might be that you need to take a beginners class or something. Look around and see if you can find one. A trainer often can't be bothered with teaching the absolute basics when he has fighters to teach the finer points to. Once you're about at the level where you're ready to have a fight, he'll take notice.

Trust me, I am good at it. I have done street boxing sparring with most of my friends who used to train and it does give me some practical work.

I'm in shape, I work hard and I'm most likely training everyday, running, and skipping.

You are right there is this one point where I have missed 3 weeks off training and I just got back into it recently like a month ago. I'm going to keep going till I get noticed and just train real hard.

Maybe I am just not patient enough? Thanks again StrongLikeBear

Street boxing sparring? Maybe your coach heard you drop this expression and decided you're a tard? Just go talk to him say 'hey coach, what do I need to work at before you'll let me spar?' see what he says. You should have a very open rapport with your coach anyway. He should be a mentor for your not some angry head master you're afraid to talk to. Maybe he feels you're not ready, thinks you're not interested or just doesn't know what to do with you - you won't know until you ask him directly.

you need to lose that idea you got that "street boxing sparring" gives you any "practical work" or any advantage whatsoever in the ring... you probably act arrogant and ****y in class and that's why the coach doesn't favor you
