I have been a trainer for a long time, over 10 years now. It's easy to get your license from USA Boxing to be registered to train amateur fights in the state you are in.

No offense but to be a proper trainer, you should apprentice under an experienced trainer the way I did. One of the major problems in boxing is that anyone with a bucket and a towel can "train" anyone but most don't know what they are doing.

Being a former amateur boxer or even pro doesn't qualify you at all. It takes patience and lot's of understanding of the sport to train other people to fight. Being in the corner and understanding what you need to tell your fighter in the heat of the moment is only learned through experience.

I would try and apprentice under a real trainer at some lagit gym before I try and train kids out of my house to be honest. Just getting your trainers license is easy though, it costs about $100 bucks with USA Boxing and your state commission. They give you a back ground check to make sure your not some pedo and don't have a serious criminal charge pending.

      Thanks for responding.
i get what your saying and to be Totally Honest the city im from theres about 2 boxing GYMs and the trainers suck, dont care about the kids and their the type of trainers that tell you hit the bag and thats it. for instance there was times when i would be away for months during like football, basketball or whatever it was even a year away from the gym id go back literally and shine more than kids that been there longer. both trainers know me since i was a kid and knew my dad so im pretty known lol .theres another trainer that im cool with lives about 30 min away from me i trained with him since about 22 to 25 i say off and on beacuse started havinng kids of my own ,i was never really consistent in my training,I love the sport of Boxing but once my father passed it was hard for me to dedicate myself. and now that im 28 i want to give back i know i can do it .ive been asked to work with kids from my old trainer who lives 30 min away .But i want to make a name for myself .
im no UFC fan . i dont like that crazy fighting i feel anyone can do it.Boxing to me is a science i sit and study it when i watch fights i put on mute and pay attention to tecnique i try to strategies and break down the fighter lol
but thanks for your opinion and the info .would you happen to know how i could contact USA bOXING ?

Just go to their web site and you can find everything you need. Like I said, I'm not trying to discourage you because as you can see you just described the reason there are so many bad trainers out there.

It takes patience, time and the know how to teach it properly. I learned from old school Mexican boxing trainers so I learned the right way and am doing that now with my kids in the gym.

        Good luck though.

Not got any advice but I wish you the best of luck. Boxing training is something I want to do once I'm done actually competing and I might end up in your situation.

          Again, good luck.
