    My Second Fight(Video)

I had my second fight last Friday & lost it on a decision. I feel like **** about it but I'd like if you guys could give me constructive criticism about it and tell me what I did wrong and what I need to work on that'd be great.

Also, it is possible that I might get a rematch in a couple of months, so if anyone can help me spot his weaknesses and tell me what i have to work on to exploit them next time around that'd be amazing.

A couple of points to note about the video:

    1) I couldn't find a free MTS-MP4 converter, so there's a watermark on the video. Sorry about that.
    2) The camera goes a little bit out of focus at times, but you can still make out what's going on. Sorry about that too.
    3) For some reason, the second round was ridiculously short. I didn't realise until people said it to me afterwards, but it was only about 30 or 40 seconds. Very Strange.

    Anyway, here's the fight.

I'm in the blue corner(in the white & blue top).

That second round was crazy, what was the time keeper doing?

I only noticed in the last round, so I don't know if this was the case in the first two rounds, but you should try to move your head a bit more. A lot of the time you were coming in with your head up in the air, making it easier for him to land. Try to move your head more to make it harder for him to land.

Also, try to work the jab more. Sometimes you weren't stepping in with it enough (imo, anyway). Also, try to double it up sometimes as well, I always find I can land a right hand behind a double jab more easily than a single jab.

As for his weaknesses, I'd have to watch again to make much comment, but it looks like he was slapping with the right hand sometimes, throwing it downwards - meaning his hand was low after he'd thrown it (Hope that makes sense?). If you could work on slipping that, you could probably land a counter left hook niceley.

Good work man, and good luck in the rematch!

The fight looked really close. I think you lost because of your balance. I know it goes by points but that doesn't mean the judges can't see you flopping everywhere like a fish. It seems as if you're getting hurt or just being sloppy. Work on your balance more and get back in there again.

You duck to much and it looks back when you do it. You threw NO left hooks, NONE! You average 3 right hands a ROUND! Honestly it must be a social club boxing venue that your in because you know so little about boxing that it surprises me that you actually had a bout. I'm not trying to deminish your passion for the sport but I don't care for "social boxing"! You didn't win because your effort wasn't as good as your opponents yet you were better than he was. He stepped over himself when he backed up and that simple move alone could have won you the fight if you had the determination to back him up. You didn't follow one advice from your corner and I could see the frustration in your corners eyes. You had conditioning over your opponent also and you need to recognize that in a fight. I know you have no experience but you need to study this video and you need to correct EVERYTHING you doid wrong. You can't box without having a hook behind your right hand in combination. You must utilize a double jab and can't lower your head as you jab, if your worried about the right hand coming over your jab then then step to the right before you move in with it and make your opponent move his feet when YOU want him to. Hell you didn't even look tired at the end the other guy was falling over the top rope during a break, you should have been on that guy at the beginning of the second round and won that fight easily!!! Ignore this guy.

Pretty solid for two contests. However you're a bit jumpy and sometimes end up in awkward positions because of it, happens to everyone though. Just try and relax, ignore the crowd, ignore everything except you, your opponent and most importantly your brain. Boxing is a thinking mans sport, relax and think before you throw. Pick the punches. It all comes with experience though make sure you get plenty sparring in for the rematch and good luck.

For some reason I've never felt entirely comfortable with knowing when to throw left hooks and how to utilize them effectively in sparring. I've recently been shadowboxing left hooks a lot, but i need to boost my confidence in throwing them in sparring. I have been landing it a little bit more recently though.

My coach told me that I overtrained for the fight yesterday. I did feel weak in the third round and wanted to take the fight to him, but I guess that's a part of my game that I need to work on. I'm just used to being able to stand off people and box them but he had slightly longer reach than i did so my reach wasn't as much of an asset. Anyway, back to the drawing board...

I do need a lot of sparring to develop offensively in the next few months. And i was a bit jittery, i just didn't feel quite right that night. I also normally throw a stiffer jab and normally double up on it, but i somehow forgot to do it that night. Thanks for the advice.

your balance seemed a bit off and what the hell was with the 2nd round lasting like 1 minute lol

IMHO it was pretty close try to fight more relaxed and pick your punches, the guy left good countering opportunities as well..make him miss more and pay

also use the jab more often
