Im a tall southpaw and having trouble with landing the straight left to the body.....I can land my straight left to the head very well but for some reason I come up short usually hitting their elbows or not connecting fully with the straight left to the body.....any advice on this? concepts, or ways I can hti this more?

Counter- always the best and safest way to go to the body. Or make him move first, and not necessarily a punch. Feint him, make him react, then punch.

Use your jab first to judge distance then follow with the left once you get an idea of the distance between you and him you'll have a better opportuity to throw a lead left!
Don't get caught reaching, your out of balance when you reach and you can't absorb a punch out of balance like you can with proper balance!
Get your lead foot just outside his lead and that brings your left hand automaticly closer! Try it! Ray

The easiest points to score for a southpaw vs an orthadoxed fighter, the straight left to the body. Shoot some jabs his way, jab again and then immediately get low and shoot that straight left into his belly, be sure to follow quickly with hooks. Good luck ............ Rockin'
