Should I fight Southpaw or orthadox?

I'm naturally left handed and thats where I have full control and power my right hand has very little control and not so much power. I just started boxing at a local gym. The trainer was telling me to switch to orthadox because he saw I had a better jab with my left hand, and in my head I thought of course its gonna be better its my hand I do everything with!. I thinking I should just listen to him but then I would be giving up my power punch. Also I find it easier for footwork to use southpaw. Everything just seems off when i switch to orthadox except for my jab. I want to stay southpaw because I feel more comfortable but I want to have a better jab, So my question is should I stay southpaw and work on my jab or switch to orthadox and give up my power? help please im so confused!
(oh yeah these trainers/coaches were winky wright & jeff lacy's but now keith thurman's)

I recommend that you fight out of an orthapaw stance, messes the other guy up completely from a psycological stand point............ Rockin'

Its all philosophy, and ultimately doesnt matter what stance you choose. Pick a stance, and develope your skills/strengths/etc from there. That said, by picking southpaw you will have an inherent benefit when fighting inexperienced orthodox fighters. I'd say just pick the stance that feels most comfortable to you starting out.

I was right hand dominant(but almost ambidextrous), picked orthodox. During training I put a lot of focus in developing my left hand, and now dare I say my left hand is my stronger hand punch and skill wise.

Balance is the key, with proper balance your weaker side has a better chance to develop.
Move in the ring in both stances while hitting pads and simply shadowing and you should be able to tell which feels right. Share this with the trainer and ask for his input! Ray.

As you said you want a better jab so I'd recommend you to shift to orhadox. Also your trainer also want this, obeviosly he'll has some better experience with with this reason.

Use the stance that allows you to keep your fundamentals sound. Having technique is better than the other bs and it will help you more in the long run.

what a lazy trainer probably doesnt know how to train a southpaw of course you'd be better with your left jab thats your left handed...
